  • Class of 2013 Gives Back Through Senior Projects
    Tuesday, May 21, 2013
Each year, Berkeley seniors spend part of the last week of school giving back to the community by volunteering for various nonprofit organizations throughout the Tampa Bay area. This year was no exception! The class of 2013 worked, played and modeled Berkeley’s vision, “Berkeley puts people in the world who make a positive difference.” Seniors divided up into groups and volunteered at Easter Seals, Metropolitan Ministries, Hudson Manor Assisted Living Facility, Lowry Park Zoo, Southeastern Guide Dogs and Glazer Children’s Museum.
In addition to volunteering in the community, the seniors help to organize their end-of-year community service projects because it’s a great opportunity to participate in something meaningful and productive during their final moments together as a class. Berkeley’s community service program begins in pre-kindergarten, and 100 percent of pre-K – grade 12 students participate in many projects throughout the year. Annually, Berkeley students perform a combined total of more than 25,000 hours of community service.
